· Indian ports association under the guidance of the
Ministry of shipping launched the Port Community System ‘PCS1x’ on 11 December
2018.
· The Ministy of Power launched ‘ECO Niwas Samitha 2018’
on 14th December 2018.
· The agriculture ministry launched the online portal
‘Ensure’ to connect with direct benefit transfer and provide a simple, useful
and transparent system to the beneficiary.

· The government of India notified the medical devices
like nebulizers, blood pressure monitors, digital thermometers and glucometers
as ‘drugs’ under the ‘Drugs and Cosmetic Act’.

won the 115th ‘All India Aga Khan Gold Cup’ Hockey Tournament 2018
in Delhi on 10
December 2018.
· The second edition of ‘Khelo India Youth Games’ will
be held in Pune in January 2019.
Business and Economy
(10-15 December) –
· As per the RBI the Current Account Deficit (CAD)
widened to 2.9% of GDP for the July-September quarter.
· As per the UN Economics and Social Commission for Asia
and the Pacific Report, FDI inflows to South and South-West Asia decreased by
6% in 2017.
· Inflation based on wholesale prices fell to a
three-month low of 4.64% in November 2018, as prices of food articles,
especially vegetables reduced.
NRTI dedicated to the
Nation –
· The Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal dedicated the
National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI), India’s
first Railway University, to the Nation in Vadodara on
15 December 2018.
· It is third such University in the world after Russia and China.
· The Railway
University began its
operations on 5th December 2018.
Vijay Diwas celebrated
on 16 December –
· Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year in India on 16
December.
· The Day marks the Indian Military’s victory over Pakistan in 1971 during the war for the
Independence of Bangladesh from Pakistan.
· On this Day, 93,000 members of Pakistan troops surrendered to
Indian Army and Mukti Bahini, calling an end to the Indo-Pak war of 1971.
