ISRO to launch GSAT-7A
Communication Satellite –
·       The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will
launch communication satellite ‘GSAT-7A’ from Shriharikota on 19 December 2018.
·       GSAT-7A is the 35th Indian Communication
state built by the ISRO.
·       The state will enable the Indian Air Force to
interlink to different ground radar stations , ground air base and airborne
early warning and control aircraft.
GOVT. formulates
‘Crisis Management Plan’ –
·      
The GOVT. of
India has formulated a ‘Crisis Management Plan’ to counter cyber attacks and
cyber terrorism.
·      
It will be
implemented by all Ministers and Departments of the Centre and the state
government in critical sectors.
·      
The government of
India
has empanelled 76 security audit organizations to insure information security.
FDI inflows to South West Asia down : UN report –
 
·       As per the UN economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) report, FDI inflows to South
and South-West Asia decreased by 6% in 2017.
·       It is due to a drop in foreign funding flow to
countries like India and Turkey.
·       The foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow to South
and South-West Asia stood at USD 63 billion in the last calendar year.
Tarun Aggarwal became
SAT’S presiding officer –
 
·       Justice Tarun Aggarwal, retired CJ of the Meghalaya
HC, has been appointed as the presiding officer in the Securities Appellate
Tribunal, Mumbai.
·       The securities Appellate Tribunal in a statutory body
established under the provisions of section 15k of the SEBI Act, 1992.
·       It hears ad disposes of appeals against orders passed
by the SEBI by an adjudicating officer under the Act.
Manika won
‘Breakthrough Star award’ –
 
·      
India’s Manika Batra became the first Indian Table Tennis
player to be decorated with the ‘Breakthrough Table Tennis Star’ award.
·      
She was honoured
at the Prestigious ‘International Table Tennis Federation Star Awards’ in
Incheon.
·      
Manika started
the year on a high at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, guiding India to it’s
first ever Gold Medal in the Women’s team category.
First container mainline
vessel flagged off –
 
·      
Shri Nitin
Gadkari flagged off India’s
first container mainline vessels from Voc port (Tuticorin Port).
·      
By this EXIM
trade will benefit and there will be a saving of approximately 50 USD per
container as the handling of the container at Colombo will not be required.
·      
This service will
give benefit to the inporters and exporters in terms of saving transshipment
cost and transit time.
PM inaugurated the
‘Partners’ Forum, 2018 –
 
·       PM Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Partners’
Forum, 2018’ in Delhi.
·       He also released the coffee table book ‘Proven Paths’,
a compendium of 36 best practices in maternal, child and adolescent health.
·       Partners’ forum is a Global health partnership
launched in September 2005 to accelerate efforts to reduce child and maternal
mortality, improve adolescent, child, newborn and maternal health.
15 new breeds of
livestocks registered –
 
·       ICAR has approved registration of record 15 new breeds
of livestock and poultry last year.
·       These include 2 cattle breeds-Ladaki and Konkon Kapila
(Maharashtra and Goa); 3 buffalo breeds-Luit (Assam and Manipur), Bargur (TN),
Chhattisgarhi etc.
·       The process of identification of animal breeds and
their documentation plays a major role preserving the biodiversity of the
country.
UN honoured Indian
Startup ‘HelpUsGreen’ –
 
·      
Uttar
Pradesh-based ‘HelpUsGreen’ named startup has been honoured by the UN.
·      
The startup works
to clean up the mighty river Ganga by
recycling thousands of tonnes of floral waste from temples.
·      
‘HelpUsGreen’ has
come up with the world’s first profitable solution to the monumental temple
waste problem: ‘flowercycling’.
Kovind launched app for
farmers in Myanmar
–
 
·       President Ram Nath Kovind launched a mobile app for
farmers in Myanmar
and dedicated a centre and a bio park to promote agriculture research and
education to the people.
·       App provides cop and livestock knowledge and
information apart from cropping guidelines based on location.
·       The app links farmers with more than 2,000 experts.
Zoramthanga to became
Mizoram’s CM –
 
·       In Mizoram, the new government of Mizoram national
Front (MNF), headed by Mr.Zoramthanga will be sworn in on 15th
December.
·       It was decided at the meeting between Governor
Kummanam Rajasekharan and a delegation of the MNF partly led by Zoramthanga at
Raj Bhavan in Aizwal.
·       In the 40-seated Assembly, MNF has secured a victory
bagging 26 seats.
Kamal Nath to be new CM
of Madhya Pradesh –
 
·       Congress party has choosen MP statue unit president
Kamal Nath as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.
·       He will replace outgoing Chief Minister ShivRaj Singh
Chouhan.
·       A one-line resolution has been passed at the Congress
Legislature Party (CLP) meeting in Bhopal
to choose the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister.
Arunima Sinha to climb
Mt. Vinson, Antarctica –
 
·       The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi handed over the
tricolor flag to Arunima Sinha, marking the beginning of her expedition to Mount Vinson,
Antarctica.
·       Ms. Arunima Singh is the first female Divyang to climb Mt.
Everest.
·       Arunima Sinha had earlier conquered the highest peaks
in five continents, becoming the first female Divyang to achieve the feat.
Myanmar announces Visa-on-Arrival Facility –
 
·       Myanmar decided to start a visa-on-arrival facility for
Indian tourists, reports to Deccan Herald.
·       The visit is part of India’s ‘Act East’ and
‘Neighbourhood First’ policies.
·       Mr.Kovind also visited a temple of goddess Kali which
is managed by a trust represented by people who came to Myanmar from different regions of India.
Manned mission to space
–
 
·       It is proposed to undertake a manned mission to space
before the 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence.
·       The manned mission will accomplished using ISRO’s
launch vehicle GSLV MKIII.
·       The manned mission will launch Indian Astronauts from
Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Shriharikota into approximately 400 km Low
Earth Orbit.
·       The maximum mission planned is of 7 days duration.

became member of UPSC –
 
·       Shri Bharat Bhusan Vyas, IAS (J&K 1986) (Retd.)
took the Oath of Office and Secrecy as member, Union Public Service Commission
(UPSC).
·       The Oath was administered by Shri Arvind Saxena,
Chairman, UPSC. He was born on 15-11-1957.
·       He has done B.SC. (Botany)
·       He joined Indian Administrative Service in 1986.
