‘Shiksha Setu’ App
launched by Haryana Government –
· The Haryana Government launcher the ‘Shiksha Setu’ app
on 18 December 2018.
· The app will provide Students Information on
attendance, fee, online admission, and scholarship of all government colleges
of the state.
· The app will provide instant update of important
notices, circulars and other programs to students and teachers.
· The student will also get information on assignments.
Sonam named PETA India’s ‘person
of the year’ –
· Sonam Kapoor was named PETA India’s ‘person of the
year’ for 2018 for her animal advocacy efforts.
· People for the ethical treatments of Animals (PETA) is
an animal rights organization based on Virginia,
USA.
· Past receipts of PETA India’s Person of The Year Award
include Anushka Sharma, Dr.Shashi Tharoor, Hema Malini and others.
HRD Ministry organizes
‘Kala Sangam’ –
· ‘Sangeet Kala Sangam’ was organized by Ministry of
Human Resources Development on 18
December 2018.
· Sangeet Kala Sangam provides a national platform for
the Art and Music teachers of Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas.
· The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodya
Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) are two organizations of the HRD ministry.
Bhopal to host ‘Balrang 2018’ –
· The two-days ‘Rashtriya Balrang 2018’ will be organized
in Bhopal on 20
December 2018.
· It will be organized by the School Education
Department of Madhya Pradesh in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya
Manav Sanghrahalya.
· Students from various schools in 18 states and two Union Territories
will present folk dance, songs, and ultural programmes.
Government approves new
tourist routes in Ladhak –
· The Home Ministry approved new tourist and trekking
routes in Ladakh Region of Jammu and
Kashmir.
· The aim is to promote adventure tourism and enhance
economic activities in ladakh.
· The proposed routes include the Merak-Lema Bend and
the Chusul-Kartsangla-Mahe.
· The Phyang-Dokla-HunderDok-Hunde is one of the
proposed trekking routes.
Former PM of Nepal, Tulsi
Giri passed away –
· Former Prime Minister of Nepal,
Tulsi Giri passed away in Kathmandu on 18
December.
· He twice served as the Prime Minister of Nepal first
from 1962 to 1964 and again from 1975 to 1977.
· He also served as the Vice-Chairman of the Nepal’s
Cabinet (equivalent to the prime ministers post).
· He started his political carrier from Nepali Congress
Party.
ISRO’s GSAT 7A launched
into the orbit –
· ISRO’s GSAT-7A launched into the orbit from
Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh on 19 December 2018
· GSAT 7A was launched on ‘GSLV-F11’ rocket.
· GSAT 7A is a geostationary communication satellite
weighing 2250 Kg’s and will provide communication service in Ku Band over the
India region.
· The satellite will provide vital data for hi-tech
communication in strategic fields.
9th
India-ROK Joint Commission meeting held –
· The ‘9th India-ROK Joint Commission’
meeting was held in New Delhi
on 19 December 2018.
· India and South
Korea reviewed the progress of their special
strategic partnership.
· External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Foreign
Affairs Ministry of South Korea Kang
Kyung-wha co-chaired the meeting.
· The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and
global issues of common interests.
Strategy Document for
New India
released –
· NITI Aayog unveiled his comprehensive national
Strategy for New India, which defines clear objectives for 2022-23.
· The Strategy documents advocates empowering and
encouraging women to participate in all sectors of economy, to built a strong
and inclusive New India.
· It vouches for the transformation of the rural
economy.
Surrogacy Bill passed
in Lok-Sabha –
· Lok Sabha has passed the Surrogacy Bill, 2016 on 19
December 2018.
· The bill is aimed at prohibiting commercial surrogacy
and unethical practices relating to it.
· The bill has
provisions to constitute National Surrogacy Board, State Surrogacy Boards and
appointment of appropriate authorities for regulation of surrogacy.
· It permits surrogacy only for couples who cannot
conceive a child.
India retains highest aviation safety rankings –
· The Federal Aviation administration (FAA) has retained
the highest aviation safety ranking of India.
· India’s International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA)
rating remains ‘Category1”
· FAA has carried out an audit in July 2018 to confirm India’s
Adherence to the standards laid down by the International Civil Aviation
Organisation (ICAO).
